Workshops to Assist Industry Adoption of GLNs

34
Two workshops have been scheduled for the remainder of 2011 as a continued effort to help the healthcare industry with its adoption of GS1 Global Location Numbers (GLNs).

1. On Saturday, November 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the campus of USC Health Sciences in Los Angeles, hosted by USC Health Sciences

2. On Tuesday, December 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Lansing Center, hosted by the Michigan Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management

These workshops build on the success of two highly rated workshops already conducted this year in Dallas and Chicago. Designed specifically for data managers, electronic data interchange (EDI) professionals and other healthcare supply chain professionals with front-line responsibility for implementing the GLN in their organizations, the workshop features instruction from provider and supplier-based faculty who have implemented the GLN, along with a live tutorial on the GLN Registry for Healthcare®.

The workshops are intended to provide attendees with the information and training needed to begin GLN implementation within their organizations.

Space in the workshop is limited – only the first 60 registrants will be enrolled in order to maximize the interaction throughout the all-day session. There is no registration fee for the workshop; however, attendees will be responsible for their own travel expenses.

For registration information and agendas for both workshops, visit www.gs1us.org/hcGLNworkshop.

HSCA is pleased to promote these workshops and participate in the sponsoring of six similar workshops scheduled for 2012. These efforts are consistent with the one-on-one outreach HSCA members have undertaken with the adoption of the It Just Takes One campaign – where each HSCA member GPO has committed to engage at least 100 providers with the information and know-how to validate their GLNs and take the next step to transact with at least one of those GLNs. HSCA urges all GPOs to make these workshops known to their provider members and we urge all providers to attend workshops in their areas. The workshops scheduled for 2012 will be geographically diverse to provide as many providers to participate as possible.
